Many of you are asking us during this summer period, whether you are on holiday or have already resumed your duties at headquarters or abroad, about the particularities of our union, the values it defends and, above all, the positive benefits that membership of the CFDT can bring to your professional life.
We hope you will find some answers to your questions below.
- The CFDT-MAE is by far theNo. 1 trade union organisation in the MEAE
Founded in 1974, the CFDT-MAE has been the Ministry’sleading trade union organisation since 2005.
37% of the vote and 7 seats out of 15 at the CTM
With 37% of the votes cast in the 2018 professional elections to the Ministerial Technical Committee (CTM) and 7 seats out of 15, the CFDT-MAE has consolidated its position as the union most representative of all the Ministry’s staff. This 1st place also gives our union the broadest representation, particularly within the ministerial CHSCT.
A cross-category union that defends all categories of staff
Far from corporatism, the CFDT-MAE is a cross-category union that defends all categories of staff: permanent staff in categories C, B and A, international volunteers, contract staff on fixed-term and indefinite-term contracts and locally recruited staff whose applicable law is that of the country in which they work.
Mastery of the issues and a network of committed and motivated activists
The CFDT-MAE has a thorough understanding of all the issues of interest to the Ministry’s staff, as well as all international questions, whether through its network of members, activists, elected representatives and sections, or through the information it receives from the Ministry as part of formal or informal social dialogue (consultation meetings, working groups).
A union that advocates social dialogue but refuses to abandon its principles
The CFDT-MAE is an active union, which above all advocates negotiation, but which does not hesitate to take matters of principle to the competent courts when its partners refuse to discuss. The CFDT-MAE is a real countervailing force, necessary to push forward the major reforms of the Ministry.
- Why join the CFDT-MAE?
The CFDT is a team at my side to :
- advise me
The CFDT advises me on my relations with management, the difficulties I encounter in my departments, my career opportunities, my training rights, etc.
But the CFDT can also help me outside work on issues such as my social rights, housing, social security and pensions.
By answering my questions and answering my queries on all subjects concerning the life of an employee.
- listen to me
And relaying to the administration the concerns and questions of staff members, as well as proposals and suggestions to help move forward the debates and negotiations with the administration.
Because at the CFDT, it’s the members who put forward the ideas…
At each professional election, I can be involved in the choice of candidates and stand as a candidate.
- keep me informed
Within the Ministry, I am regularly informed of demands, union action and the signing of agreements (time charter, for example).
The CFDT informs me of my rights and the initiatives and positions taken by my union. As soon as I join, I receive the monthly CFDT Magazine, published by the confederation, as well as all the professional and local information published for members by the various CFDT structures.
Websites
CFDT website, which is at the heart of the information and communication system, with a “member” area (I find my login on my membership card and my password in CFDT Magazine).
The CFDT-MAE website, which regularly provides information on the life of the Ministry by publishing articles, meeting reports, etc.
- defend me
If I am faced with a dispute, if I have a problem with my employer, if I suffer from poor working conditions, if I am a victim of suffering at work… The CFDT can defend me. If negotiation fails, the union will help the member to put together a case for an ex gratia appeal or to the administrative tribunal.
Who will pay my expenses?
There is compensation* if my wages are withheld by my employer, as well as legal fees… The union will take care of all the formalities.
What if I go on strike?
The CFDT has a strike fund that allows members to receive compensation*.
* Please note: the compensation offered is subject to conditions and must come from the union.
By joining the CFDT, I’m joining for my future, but what else?
By joining the CFDT, I become a player in my professional life, participating in demands on issues that concern my work: quality of life at work, teleworking, gender equality, etc.
By joining, I’m also helping to build a society that’s changing by getting involved in important issues: the fight against all forms of discrimination, the fight against inequality, etc.
If you identify with these values :
Solidarity, emancipation, independence, autonomy, respect, freedom, democracy and social progress for all.
